Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) – An elite Indian tree creating a global sustainable solution!

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is a topic that is a critical component of every company, community or country. The reason is that today the core challenge is the scale of pollution that exists around the world.

CCS represents one of the biggest game changing opportunities for;

1. Small farmer inclusion
2. Industry-farmer partnerships
3. FInancial Services ecosystem
4. Government bonds that de-risk future investments
5. Enable industry to scale new models for energy generation

Carbon capture and storage, or CCS, is a family of technologies and techniques that enable the capture of CO₂ from fuel combustion or industrial processes, the transport of CO₂ via ships or pipelines, and its storage underground, in depleted oil and gas fields and deep saline formations. CCS can, therefore, have a unique and vital role to play in the global transition to a sustainable low-carbon economy, in both power generation and industry.

There is a solution based on an elite tree of Indian origin, called Pongamia Pinnata

What is a tree that was made elite (so as to survive in the most challenging agro-climatic zones) to be productive;

1. In zones from saline to alkaline
2. From -2 Deg C to 60 Deg C
3. Fixes own Carbon & Nitrogen
4. Produces Biodiesel
5. Produces Green Coal (4,000 – 4500 KCal)
6. Remediates the soil to be productive enhancing agricultural productivity
7. Water and irrigation requirements between 300 – 600mm
7. A non-inasive species

What if this could be done now!
Well a company that I am on the board of just doing that, bagged a project in an hostile mining zone and working on the same project! Imagine what this could mean as a potential.

Dr. Prasad did all his IP development internationally and co-founded the company to create the solution of complex protocols that do this!

Imagine a mining company whose license to mine depends on soil and environmental sustainability, integrate local population, create a model that is economically sustainable and scalable without subsidies, generate local power for the mines and communities and sequestrate Carbon for the next 60 years on a scale that is done naturally and the financial ecosystem from commodities markets trading on the mining site’s CCS, Fuel and Commodity, banks and other financial institutions providing capital and bonds based on the asset as collateral and PE investors taking equity positions on the site, converted to a business!
