Why business model innovation is critical to MOOCs – Gandhi’s business model solution!

Over the last year or so I have seen numerous headlines on MOOCs on how they are potentially disrupting the education industry. However this is the pioneering “inventive” cycle and what is needed is the business model. This slide I put together when I presented over 6 years ago to then director of MIT OCW on what the real challenge of the business model was and is still relevant. This is where the real battle will be where investors, entrepreneurs and the academic ecosystem will now compete for the next cycle of disruption and where “Mobility” will be instrumental in the socio-economic impact of value.

So watch this space very closely. Imagine the opportunity for Gandhi’s business model of “It is not mass production, but production by the masses”. Is that what not the entire www is based on from search to social and supplychain to mapping?
